Newsletter -
May 2008
Opening Day is Friday, May 16th!
Friday,
May 16th is opening day and it will be here before you know it.
We are very busy getting everything
ready for our 9th season as Owners and
Proprietors of Whisperwood Lodge and Cottages and we look forward
to seeing everyone for another enjoyable Whisperwood season.
We are working hard in preparation for the 2008 season. A lot of work
has gone into changing our website and you will find a new look and
easier access to the information you need. Not that we don’t like
taking phone calls and talking to our guests, but we made a list of
the most frequent questions that prompted people to call us and added
the information to the web pages. As always, we continue our
commitment to quality service. We are looking forward to the upcoming
2008 season at
Whisperwood.

What’s new in 2008?
Our website now has
a new Big Bass Page.
If you catch a Big Bass during your stay with us, please send the photo to
doug@whisperwoodlodge.com and we will post it on the
website. New fish photo’s will be posted and displayed under the fish icon
for the month it was caught. Five, six & seven pound fish will also
be displayed under the icons for the Big Fish Club. When sending your
fish photos, please list: when it was caught, the length and weight of the
fish and the name of person who caught the fish. Now that we have free
wireless internet access here at Whisperwood, it is possible that we could
have your photo posted on the web before you leave. Be sure to check out
our Big
Bass Page when you get a chance!
Our website now has
a new Wildlife
Page. And, we are not talking about some of the people that
stay with us! On the wildlife page you will find photo’s taken by our
guests of birds and wildlife found around the lake and at Whisperwood.
Wildlife like the Ospreys with the nest in our cove or the Great Blue
Heron with the nest located across the cove from our dock or the Eagles
that nest in the big pine tree on Birch Point and of course we can’t
forget the photos of all the loons that roam the two lakes. Please check
out the new
Wildlife
Page on our web site.
Rental Boat up-grades,
Boats #’s 11,12,13,14 will now have stern mounted electric trolling motors
and automatic bilge pumps as standard equipment. Boats #’s 15 & 16 already
have these items as standard equipment. Rental Boat rates have change
from last year. Please go to our website and click on the boating icon to
view all the boats with their options and the 2008 rental rates.
Changes to our pet policy.
If you are planning on bringing your pet, please go on line to our
website, click on the rates page. Pet information can be found at the
bottom of the
Rates page. Click on pet policy and review
all information. Our Insurance Policy prohibits us from accepting certain
breeds of dogs, the list of unacceptable dog breeds is listed on the pet
policy. There will be a $10.00 per day per pet fee.
We have a
new camp fire area down at the water
front. We installed a new fire ring set inside a stone platform with new
seating all the way around it. The improvements should make for some
enjoyable evenings down by the lake.
Free Fishing Day-
To
promote fishing, The State of Maine offers free fishing on May 31st and
June 1st - No Fishing License Required. All other Laws & Regulations
apply.
An up-date
from our last newsletter, Our son Cameron is now home in the states after
16 months of deployment in Afghanistan. He is at his home at Fort Drum
with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, in Watertown, New
York. He could not get home for Christmas, but we did get a chance to
drive out and spend the New Years Holiday with him and our daughter-in-law
Renee and our grandson Sean. God bless your troops and their families!
Another family blessing - Our
son James and daughter-in-law Morgan gave us our first grand-daughter on
Valentines Day 2007. Her name is Kylie.
Our son Kegan is now
in his first year at the University of Maine and enjoys being a member on
the football team. Mickee is now a freshman in high school. AND, yes we
do know, that some of you still see her as the little seven year old girl
that was always around to greet you in the dining room, during our first
year at Whisperwood.
To our Guests,
Doug, Candee, Mickelle and the entire staff of Whisperwood wish to extend
our sincere thanks to you all for visiting Whisperwood Lodge & Cottages.
The one thing that makes Whisperwood so special is the many great people
that visit us year after year. We thank you very much for your friendship
and loyalty. We truly enjoy sharing with you the same appreciation
for the relaxing atmosphere that Whisperwod and Salmon Lake has to offer.
We hope you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for choosing
Whisperwood Lodge & Cottages as your vacation destination.
If you have any question or comments, Please feel free to contact us.
