Turkey Hunt – Hunt private land in central Maine’s farmlands and woods for Maine’s elusive wild turkey. Maine offers an excellent wild turkey hunting experience!  Big, wild, unpressured birds are a turkey hunters dream come true!  Our guides use ground blinds and natural cover and offer both bow and shotgun hunts.  Clients are required to have a small game Maine hunting license.  If you tag out, our guides will take you fishing or on a coyote hunt!

Guided Fishing Trips

If you are coming to Whisperwood for the first time and are unsure about how to fish the Lake, or maybe you did not have very good luck on your last fishing trip. Think about hiring a Registered Maine Guide to show you what is happening on the Lake.  The Guides spend a lot of time on the Lakes and have the knowledge to make your fishing experience a good one. The path to success is best achieved by applying proven results from those that have already achieved what you desire. There truly is no better way for you to rapidly advance your skills than to get the insight and knowledge from a Fishing Guide that knows the waters and patterns of the fish you are seeking.

The Big Plus – you are going to have a great time doing it! 

For a guided fishing trip, you can choose from a wide variety of different lakes, ponds, streams or rivers in the Belgrade Lakes Region.  We offer full fishing guide service for trophy Northern Pike, Salmon, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass. Enjoy a float trip down the Kennebec River for trophy Brown Trout or take the children fishing for some White Perch. Rates range from $225 – $300 a day depending on the number in your party. Boat and fishing gear provided.

The Belgrade Lakes area offers one of the best chances of anywhere in New England at catching a true trophy Northern Pike

The Belgrade’s are famous for trophy Northern Pike and catching this challenging fish is a specialty of the area Guides. Try taking a trip with one of our Registered Maine Guides and enjoy trying your luck in catching one of these toothy monsters. We provide all the tackle and bait. Fly fishermen are welcome too, be sure to bring your camera!The best time of year is around May 1st – June 30th and again in the fall from early September – November 1st.  We do catch them in the summer, but it can be slow fishing.

Maine’s Striped Bass Fishery is the success story of the 2000’s! Here is your chance to enjoy one of the best fly-fishing or conventional tackle fishing on the coast. Throw in an occasional blue fish and you have one memorable trip! Rates vary depending on the number of people in your party. Rates: Price range is from $250 for inland trip (2 people – 4 hours – $350 for 2 people – 6 hours) – $350 full day for coastal fishing. Ocean trips are usually based in Bath, Maine which is about 45 minutes in travel time from the Belgrade area.

Registered Maine Guide (State Requirements)

The State of Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has been licensing guides for over 100 years. To be licensed as a Maine Guide, an applicant must successfully pass a written test and oral examination.  In the process they must prove proficiency in the classification in which they are testing.

 Each Maine Guide must possess at the time of application, certifications in Standard First Aid and CPR.  Guides are licensed under the following specialized classifications:

  • Recreation – Canoeing, Camping, hiking, dog sledding, snowshoeing, skiing, ATVing, snowmobiling, mountain climbing, mountain biking
  • Whitewater – Rafting on specific rivers
  • Fishing – freshwater lake and river, fly or spin cast
  • Hunting – For any game species by bow, crossbow, rifle, shotgun or blackpowder
  • Sea Kayaking – All Maine coastal waters
  • Tidewater Fishing – Coastal and inland tidal waters, sports fishing by fly or spin cast
  • Master Guide – A guide who has been licensed continuously for a ten year period and that they have a minimum of 5 years experience in the specialized classification.  During the 5-year period at least 80 hours of time each year must be spent in the act of direct guiding

When hiring a Guide, be sure that the person is registered and licensed in the outdoors classification for your needs.
